Advent 2023

Advent is a great way to prepare our hearts for Christmas.

In the Gospels, we usually go to Matthew or Luke during advent, as they lead towards the birth stories of Jesus.

However, this year we're going to spend three weeks in John Chapter 1. John doesn't record Jesus' birth, but he does reveal Jesus' identity through some symbols - Light of the World, Lamb of God, and Ladder from Heaven. These are rich and exciting images, and enhance our understanding of Jesus and his purpose in coming to earth.

Over the Christmas weekend itself, we will be holding three services, based on the Christian belief that there is no other name than Jesus by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12) - and so in the Gospel birth stories, we will focus on different titles of Jesus that reveal how he saves us.

We pray that many from our community might come to know Jesus personally this Christmas, and that those who already do, will grow more in love with him.
